California offers travelers more natural diversity than most countries. From towering redwood forests to 1100 miles of Pacific coastline, from vast deserts to snow-capped mountains, there is something for everyone. While the Golden State's historical treasures are young compared with those of Europe, you can readily discover English, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and other cultural influences in small towns and big cities.

With California being our home, we have spent more time traveling and writing about this exceptional land of opportunities than anywhere else in the world. Join us as we begin to share our favorite places. Some you will find to be well known to many who come here, such as Yosemite and San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. Others may be much less known, but just as fascinating such as historic Vikingsholm at Lake Tahoe or the many limestone caves in the Sierra foothill gold country.
